Following his own farewell party, impeccably fair and honest attorney Du Qui (Zhang Hanyu) is suddenly accused of murdering a female colleague. Police investigator Satoshi Yamura (Masaharu Fukuyama) channels all his energies into the push to apprehend Du Qiu. Yet despite closing in, Yamura has repeatedly allowed Du Qiu to slip through his fingers. While he bitterly regrets those failures, Yamura also secretly admires Du Qiu for his resourcefulness. While in pursuit, he finds that the circumstantial evidence for the murder case is flimsy, and begins to suspect that someone is laying a trap for Du Qiu. At length, the two of them join forces in the quest to get to the truth of the matter.

ABENO, TENNOJI AREA

ABENO HARUKAS, HARUKAS 300

A large-scale movie set was assembled in Harukas 300 – the observatory of Abeno Harukas, Japan’s tallest building. Filming of party scenes and other episodes were carried out from the late night to early morning hours over several days. Much like in the scenes from the movie, Harukas 300 provides a panoramic view of the exquisite night landscape spanning Osaka from its open-air garden, its glass-surrounded viewing area or its café.

TEN-SHIBA

Ten-shiba, in which scenes from ManHunt were also filmed, is known as the entrance to the Tennoji area. It is centered on an expansive lawned area, with cafés, restaurants and other food and drink shops next to a children’s playground, and is a perfect area to relax.

KINTETSU RAILWAY OSAKA-UEHOMMACHI STATION

Filming at Osaka-Uehommachi Station, where some 70,000 passengers pass through daily, is impossible during the day. As a result, amongst others, escape scenes involving key actors were shot after the final train, until the first train of the next day. Filming continued for a total of three days, with a grand total of some 1,000 people (including staff and extras). Near the station is the Kintetsu Department Store, Uehommachi YUFURA (which contains the Shin-kabuki-za theater and 39 shops) and various facilities including the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka.

NAKANOSHIMA AREA

NAKANOSHIMA DOJIMA RIVER

Nakanoshima Dojima River was used to film breathtaking action scenes aboard personal watercraft. From the river you can sightsee on boat cruises and enjoy a different side of Osaka.

JOTO WARD AREA

OSAKA CASTLE DANJIRI FESTIVAL
( SHIN-SHIGINO BRIDGE )

On Shin-Shigino Bridge in Osaka Castle Park, around 1,300 people affiliated with the local Joto Danjiri Festival Alliance joined forces to support the shooting. From the bridge you can see the contrast of the very modern, with Osaka Business Park, and the old, with Osaka Castle.

 

 

 

HOZANJI TEMPLE

Located halfway up Mt. Ikoma, Hozanji Temple is a mountain temple accessible by cable car you change to at Kintetsu Railway Ikoma Station. The temple was used to film scenes of key actors approaching on foot.

YAMAZOE VILLAGE COUNTRY PARK OKO

Marriage ceremony scenes were filmed at Yamazoe Village Country Park Oko, where rows of cherry blossoms come into exquisite full bloom. As in the film, you can enjoy the outdoors by viewing the blossoms in spring, or by camping or barbecuing through the year.

NATIONAL PARK HIRUZEN

National Park Hiruzen is one of the best-known resorts in western Japan, and several scenes, including the ranch action scenes, took place here. With cycling and camping in summer, and skiing in winter, National Park Hiruzen is a leisure spot popular with both kids and adults.
